Brunswick Business Journal Staff Report

December 29, 2018 - Incoming Georgia District 50 House Representative Angelika Kausche made a visit to the Port of Brunswick while vacationing on St. Simons Island. “Brunswick Port is considered the top port for new auto imports and exports, with over 500 acres of land leased or owned by the auto industry,” she said on Facebook. “Big thank you to Andrew Brooks of Georgia Ports Authority for giving us a tour and highlighting the tremendous economic impact the Port has on the region, Georgia, and beyond. And a huge thank you to my friend Julie Jordan for Georgia for explaining the local economy. Building the infrastructure to support the Georgia ports that are amongst the most active in the nation will be crucial for economic development and employment well beyond Coastal Georgia.”

Kausche, a German immigrant, will be representing the district around Johns Creek north of Atlanta. It was her first run for office in a district where Democrats had earlier not even bothered to field a candidate. She is the first German-born member of the Georgia state House in the modern history.
