Dec. 30 - Manning Aviation's New BQK Facilities to Open Spring 2019

Brunswick Business Journal Staff Report

December 30, 2018 - Construction of a new Fixed Base Operator Terminal and fuel farm at Brunswick Golden Isles Airport (BQK) is progressing steadily, and is on track for a Spring 2019 opening. The new location is part of the East Apron Relocation Project at the airport that will allow Manning Aviation to meet the growing demand for hangar space and general aviation services.

The FBO structure will offer attractive, well-planned spaces designed for pilot and passenger comfort. The fuel farm, a highly specialized and secure complex, will initially house two 20,000-gallon jet fuel tanks and a 12,000-gallon AVGAS fuel tank for piston prop planes. A third 20,000-gallon jet fuel tank will be added in the future. A new jet fuel truck will be in service at the first of 2019, and will allow even faster service for both resident and transient aircraft. The company will break ground for two new 6-unit T-hangars in 2019, and followed by construction of executive hangar and maintenance hangars.

Another development brings state-of-the-art avionics to Brunswick with the opening of Oasis Aviation Maintenance in Manning Aviation’s current service hangar and office area. Pilots will be able to have their navigation and communications systems installed, repaired and maintained right on the property at BQK instead of being required to fly to out-of-town airports for FAA-required and other electronics services.

“The commitment made by Manning Aviation owners, Richard and David Manning, is evidence of their confidence in the growth and prosperity of the aviation business in our community,” said Glynn County Airport Commission Executive Director Robert Burr. “Their investment will help inspire others to locate their companies in Brunswick.”
