October 29, 2017 – Coastal Empire News, headquartered in Savannah, GA., has announced that Sam Sachs (pictured) of Atlanta has been named Digital News Editor for The Brunswick Business Journal and The Dublin Business Journal, according to publisher Lou Phelps.

Sachs, a 2017 graduate of Columbus State University with a Bachelor of Arts in English and Creative Writing, was the Managing Editor of “The Saber,” the university’s award-winning college newspaper during his Senior year, and prior to graduation.

Working initially as a reporter and later as Senior Copy Editor, Sachs has authored a number of hard news stories at the university, including his series on Title IX implementation at CSU, and alleged sexual assault on campus.

He is a 2012 graduate of Alan C. Pope High School, and is a freelance photographer.

“We’re very pleased to have the next generation of journalists join Coastal Empire News,” said Phelps.  In his new position, Sachs will edit inbound news, work with local elected officials on legislation supported during the upcoming General Assembly Session, and work on investigative stories for CEN, including statewide news that affect all news coverage areas of Coastal Empire News.

Coastal Empire News publishes The Savannah Business Journal, as well as the Brunswick and Dublin business journals, founded in May 1998.

Sachs is a member of the Society of Professional Journalists’ Georgia Pro Chapter.
