Brunswick Business Journal Staff Report

October 17, 2017 – The Georgia Board of Regents Chairman,  C. Thomas Hopkins Jr., M.D., and Chancellor Steve Wrigley announced today plans to launch a national search for the next president of the College of Coastal Georgia (CCGA) in Brunswick.

A campus-based presidential search committee will be formed and announced by the end of November 2017. Members of the committee will include CCGA faculty, staff, students and representatives of the Brunswick community and will be appointed by Hopkins and Wrigley. Nominations for the search committee should be submitted to the Board of Regents.

Dr. Meg Amstutz will continue to serve as interim president through the CCGA presidential search process, and will return to the University of Georgia when the search has been completed.

"We owe a big thank you to Interim President Meg Amstutz for her support and commitment to the College of Coastal Georgia and the University System of Georgia," said Hopkins, in announcing that a national search will be undertaken, versus hiring from within the Board of Regents’ system.  "I also thank the community for its strong support of the College and Dr. Amstutz. The support of the community is directly tied to the success and growth of the College."

"Dr. Amstutz stepped forward to support the students, faculty and staff of the College to keep the momentum going while in her interim role, and we are grateful for her service. During Hurricane Irma, she provided extraordinary leadership and made it clear that the safety of the campus community was her top priority. Meg is a rising star within the University System of Georgia and has a bright future ahead," said Wrigley. "I also want to thank the campus community in advance for their support and direct engagement in this search, as we will have thoughtful representation from faculty, staff and students on the campus-based presidential search committee. This is truly an exciting time and great opportunity for the College of Coastal Georgia."

The campus-based presidential search committee will be responsible for the search and screening of candidates. A Regents' Special Committee will also be formed and comprised of Board of Regents members. At the conclusion of the campus committee's work, the campus committee will forward for consideration to the Regents' Special Committee the credentials of three to five unranked candidates, according to today’s announcement.
